In short
The best website builder for a small business that takes bookings is the one where booking, your own domain and reminders come in a plan you can afford, without a second subscription. As of October 2026, that costs from $12 to $49 a month on the builders compared here. Wix and GoDaddy build booking into their own plans, Squarespace needs a separate Acuity subscription, and Square's free plan takes bookings but only on a Square address.
We make one of the builders on this list, SiteCreatorEngine, so we have kept every entry to the same facts: what booking costs, what it can do and where it falls short, with prices read from each company's pricing page on 19 October 2026 in US dollars, before tax.
What should you look for in a website builder with booking?
Look at five things before the design: whether booking is built in, what the cheapest plan with booking and your own domain costs, how reminders go out, whether several staff can take bookings, and how customers pay.
- Booking built in or bolted on. Built-in booking lives in the same dashboard and the same bill. A separate tool means two logins, two subscriptions and a booking page that may not look like your site.
- The real price. Compare the cheapest plan that has booking and lets you use your own domain. Free plans often show your services but cannot take bookings, or only on the builder's own address.
- Reminders. Email reminders are standard; text reminders often need a higher plan. Our article on online booking and no-shows covers why reminders matter.
- Staff. A solo practitioner needs one calendar. A salon with three chairs needs a calendar per person, each with their own hours.
- Payments and deposits. If no-shows cost you money, check whether the plan can take a deposit at booking and through which payment provider.
How do the main website builders handle online booking?
Each builder below is listed with the cheapest plan that includes online booking and your own domain. The order is alphabetical, not a ranking: the right choice depends on the kind of business you run.
GoDaddy
GoDaddy's current builder, Airo AI Builder, includes appointment booking from the Professional plan: $24.99 a month billed yearly or $49.99 monthly. The yearly price includes a first-year discount, and the renewal price is not shown on the page (GoDaddy website builder).
- Suits: owners who already keep their domain at GoDaddy and want an AI-built site.
- Watch out: the cheaper Starter plan has no booking, and the free plan builds preview sites only.
SiteCreatorEngine
SiteCreatorEngine builds a site with booking and a customer list from a short description of your business. Booking works on every plan, including Free. Your own domain starts with Starter at $15 a month ($12 billed yearly), where up to 3 people can take bookings; Business is $30 a month ($24 billed yearly) with up to 10 (SiteCreatorEngine pricing). Customers get a confirmation email with a calendar file and a reminder before the visit, and every booking lands in the customer list. Card payments and deposits at booking go through your own Stripe account.
- Suits: service businesses such as salons, barbers, trainers, cleaners and clinics that want booking and a customer list in the site itself.
- Watch out: reminders go out by email only, there is no Google Calendar sync yet, a slot holds one customer per person, so group classes are not supported, and there is no online store.
Square
Square's free plan includes a booking site, text and email reminders and unlimited staff calendars, but it runs on a Square address. Connecting your own domain needs Square Plus at $49 a month per location (Square Appointments pricing). On the free plan, card payments cost 2.6% + 15 cents in person and 3.3% + 30 cents online.
- Suits: salons and barbers who already take payments with Square.
- Watch out: the jump from $0 to $49 a month is steep if all you need is your own domain.
Squarespace with Acuity Scheduling
Squarespace sells booking as a separate product, Acuity Scheduling. The cheapest pairing is a Basic site at $19 a month billed yearly ($25 monthly) plus Acuity Starter at $16 billed yearly ($20 monthly), about $35 a month in total (Squarespace pricing, Acuity pricing). Acuity Starter has one calendar, email reminders and payments through Stripe, Square, PayPal or Venmo; text reminders and more calendars need its Standard plan.
- Suits: design-led studios that are happy to pay for two subscriptions.
- Watch out: there is no free plan for either product, only trials.
Wix
Wix builds booking into its sites through Wix Bookings, but taking bookings needs a paid plan: the cheapest that lists scheduling is Core at $29 a month billed yearly (Wix plans, Wix Help Center). Bookings support staff calendars, payments and deposits, and reminders by email, text or WhatsApp.
- Suits: service businesses with staff that want booking, payments and marketing in one place.
- Watch out: a free Wix site can show your services but cannot take bookings, and the Light plan does not include scheduling.
WordPress.com
WordPress.com has no booking of its own; you add it with a booking plugin, such as a scheduling plugin from the WordPress directory, on a plan that allows plugins (WordPress.com pricing). What booking can do then depends entirely on the plugin you choose.
- Suits: owners who want full control and are comfortable choosing and setting up a plugin.
- Watch out: you maintain the plugin yourself, and the free plan does not allow your own domain.
We left Hostinger out. On 19 October 2026 its help article said appointments need an Ecommerce plan, while its comparison table listed booking for every plan, so we could not state its price honestly.
Which website builder is cheapest for a business that takes bookings?
For a business that wants its own domain and online booking in one subscription, the lowest prices among these builders in October 2026 were SiteCreatorEngine Starter at $12 a month billed yearly, GoDaddy Professional at $24.99 with a first-year discount, and Wix Core at $29. Squarespace with Acuity comes to about $35 across two subscriptions, and Square Plus is $49 per location.
If your own domain can wait, two options take bookings for $0: Square's free plan on a Square address and SiteCreatorEngine's free plan on a site address of its own. Both are enough to test whether clients book online before you pay anything.
Do you need booking built into the website?
Not always. A standalone booking tool linked from any website works, and our guide to what online booking costs compares Calendly, Acuity, Fresha, Booksy and others. Built-in booking is simpler when you want one bill, one login and every booking landing in the same customer list as your website enquiries.
Choose a standalone tool when you already use one your clients know, or when you need something a builder lacks, such as group classes. Choose built-in booking when you are starting fresh and want the site and the diary to stay in step.
Frequently asked questions
Which website builder is best for SEO?
Any of the builders here can rank well, because search engines care more about what a site says than which builder made it. What matters for a local business is clear service pages, your area and prices, a fast site on phones and a complete Google Business Profile. Our local SEO checklist covers the steps that make the difference.
Is there a free website builder with online booking?
Yes. As of October 2026, Square's free plan includes a booking site with reminders on a Square address, and SiteCreatorEngine's free plan includes booking and a customer list on a site address of its own. Wix and GoDaddy have free plans too, but they cannot take bookings, and Squarespace has no free plan.
Can I add Calendly or Acuity to any website builder?
Usually, yes. Most builders let you add a booking link or an embedded scheduling page, so a standalone booking tool works with almost any site. The trade-off is a second subscription, a second login and bookings that live outside your website's customer list.
What is the best website builder for a salon?
It depends on how the salon works. A salon with several stylists needs a calendar per person, deposits and reminders: Wix Core, Square and SiteCreatorEngine on Starter or Business all handle staff calendars. A salon that already takes payments with Square often starts with Square's booking site. Our page on hair salon websites explains what a salon site needs.
