Build the look of your blog
Your blog has two looks: one for every post page and one for the page with all your posts. Both are built from ready parts, and the Blog assistant can change them for you.
The post page
- Open the site editor -> Article template. One template is used by every post.
- The page has five zones: above the text, the left column, the right column, after the text and the bottom of the page.
- Pick a ready set - Journal, Tech, Strict or Minimal - or press Feeling lucky for a random look.
- Press + in a zone to add contents with reading progress, share buttons, about the author, previous and next post, related or popular posts, categories and tags, or your main button.
- Share buttons: point at them to choose the networks and their order. By default they follow the language of your site.
- Changes reach visitors after you press Publish.
Blocks inside a post
- In the post editor, pick a block in the Elements panel beside the post: click it or drag it into place (on a phone, press + first), or type /. Blocks: a callout, steps, a checklist, a big number, In short, questions and answers, a gallery or a button.
- Questions and answers also become FAQ data for Google.
Categories and tags
- Open a post -> Settings and add categories and tags.
- A category gets its own page on your blog. Google sees it once it has four posts.
- A tag filters the blog page to the posts that have it.
- Pin up to three posts so they always stay among Popular posts.
The page with all posts
- Open the site settings -> Blog and pick a look: Journal, Tech, Strict or Minimal, or Feeling lucky. Undo the last change brings the old one back.
- Or add sections in the site editor: the blog header with numbers, search and sort, categories, popular posts and tags. The feed can have a side column.
Ask the Blog assistant
- Make my posts look like Journal.
- Remove the table of contents. Add WhatsApp to the share buttons.
- Pin this post in popular. Show these three as related posts.
- Make the blog page look like Tech. Put this post in the category Tips.
